Boat with One Paddle

Description: One arm holds the board, the other arm performs a long freestyle stroke. Legs work continuously.

Technical Goal: Connection between arm stroke and breathing in freestyle swimming.

Coach’s Message: “One paddle pushes, the legs help!”

Game: The boat moves using only one paddle.

Execution:

  • The working arm performs a long stroke.
  • Breathing is to the same side as the working arm.
  • Swim calmly and with control.

Progression: Repeat the exercise with the other arm.

Observe:

  • Short stroke → “Push the water all the way to the hip!”

• Late breathing → “Breathe during the stroke!”
