Brushing the Water

Description: Children swim freestyle and let the hand glide along the water surface before starting the arm pull.

Technical Goal: Correct hand entry and preparation for the arm stroke.

Coach’s Message: “Stroke the water!”

Game: Drawing a line on the water surface.

Execution:

  • Calm freestyle swimming with conscious hand control.
  • Movement is slow and controlled.

Progression: Perform the exercise with steady breathing.

Observe:

  • Hand enters too quickly → “Water first, then pull!”
  • Stiff hand → relax the hand
